The young Spanish soprano Rocío Pérez started from an early age on her training in music, clarinet and drama in her home town Madrid. Today she can already look back on a most exemplary career with appearances in renowned theaters such as the ones of Strasbourg (Tebaldo in Don Carlo, stage directed by Robert Carsen), Lyon and Paris Théâtre des Champs Elysées as Cleone in Ermione (Rossini) the latter in concert still under the baton of Alberto Zedda, Berlin deutsche Oper as Queen of the night, La Fenice as Berenice in L'occasione fa il Ladro (Rossini), next to the Opera House of Metz where she appeared as Norina in Don Pasquale (Donizetti).
Important debuts: as Olympia (Contes d'Hoffmann) at the Opera house of Helsinki, Queen of the Night at Semperoper Dresden and as Nannetta (Falstaff) at Teatro real de Madrid. She’s reinvited by deutsche Oper Berlin to sing the Queen of the Night and for her first Lucia di Lammermoor. More over she participated in a concert tour with aria's by Offenbach and Bernstein with the National Orchestra of Lorraine.
HER SEASON 2019/2020
Role debuts as Zerlina in Carlos Saura's Don Giovanni (opera house of A Coruña), Paula in Tres sombreros de pico (by Ricardo Llorca) at Teatro de la Zarzuela, La Comtesse Adèle in Rossini's Le Comte Ory at the Opera House of Metz and Gilda in Rigoletto at Teatro la Fenice. Next to reinvitations by the Semperoper Oper Dresden and the Teatro real de Madrid to sing the Queen of the night.
On the longer term she will sing Tonina in Prima la Musica poi le parole and Frau Herz in Der Schauspieldirektor, Olympia in Contes d'Hoffmann and Lucia di Lammermoor, all in main theatres.
Rocío Pérez begins her vocal training with Elena Valdelomar and completes her higher education at the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid with Victoria Manso and Francisco Pérez. Eventually she attended master classes with Nathalie Dessay, Ana Luisa Chova, Dolora Zajick, June Anderson, Carlos Chausson and others. Continuing her professional way, she takes part in operas like Cinderella (P.M. Davies), Dido and Aeneas, Falstaff in different Spanish theatres. Likewise she is a soloist in the Cantania's Project at L'Auditorio de Barcelona during five seasons. Eventually she participates in the world premiere of Bildlos/Weglos by Wolfgang Rihm at MITO Festival in Italy.
From 2014 till 2016, Rocío Pérez was a full member of the opera studio inStrasbourg (Opéra national du Rhin). There she participated in productions suchas : Il matrimonio segreto (Carolina) by Cimarosa, La belle au bois dormant (La fée bleue) by Respighi, Ariane et Barbe-Bleue (Ygraine) by Dukas, Cendrillon (Anastasie) by Wolf Ferrari, Pénélope (Phylo) by Fauré and La Cambiale di Matrimonio (Fanny) by Rossini. The latter productions allowed her to work together with stage directors such as Christophe Gayral, Marie-Eve Signeyrole and Valentina Carrasco and to sing repeatedly under the baton of conductors such as : Patrick Davin, Vincent Monteil, Antonino Fogliani, Marcus Bosch and Daniele Callegari. More over she was directed by renowned stage directors such as Olivier Py and Robert Carsen.
Subsequently, Rocío Pérez participated in the young singers productions of the Opera house of Lyon. She appeared as Le Feu, La Princesse and Rossignol in L'enfant et les sortilèges and as Amore and Damigella in L'Incoronazione di Poppea (Monteverdi), with revivals both at ROH Versailles and the Opera House of Vichy.
May 2018, Rocío Pérez was awarded with the 4th Grand Prize at the famous International Queen Elisabeth Voice Competition (Belgium) and called Laureate of this legendary Competition.
July 2016, she was awarded with both the 3rd Prize and Young Artist Prize at the very first edition of the International Singing Competition "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg". 2015, she won several Prizes at the XXVII “Concours de chant Lyrique de Marmande”. Other awards include the 1st Prize and Most promising young singer Prize at the XII edition of the international competition “Luis Mariano”, the 2nd Prize and Most promising young singer Prize in the IX International competition of singers “Villa de Colmenar Viejo” and the 2nd Prize at the Young Musicians competition in Spain. The more she received a scholarship from the “Asociacion amigos de la opera” and “Juventudes Musicales” of Madrid.
