Arnaud RICHARD was awarded the highest distinction on graduating from the CNR of Caen in the class of Luc Coadou in 2000. He then continued his studies under Alain Buet. In 2006 he won second prize in the international competition of Marmande for the category French Song. From 2003 to 2007 he was a member of the ensemble “Le concert d’Astrée” conducted by Emmanuelle Haïm. On the opera stage he has appeared in the roles of Matt of the Mint in The Beggar’s opera by Britten in the théâtre de Rouen (1999), Sarastro in The Magic Flute by Mozart in the Festival lyrique de Nice-Gattières (1999), a Steersman in Tristan and Isolde by Wagner in the théatre de Rouen (2004), a Swiss, Spaniard and Italian in the comédie ballet of Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme by Molière and Lully with le Poème Harmonique and Vincent Dumestre (2004-2007), le Geôlier in Tosca by Puccini at the theâtre de Rouen (2005), Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte by Mozart with the orchestra Amadeus and Laurent Hirsch (2005-2006), the Doctor, the Inquisitor and the croupier in Candide by Bernstein at the opéra de Rouen (2007), the Géant Draco and Mars in Cadmus et Hermione by Lully with Vincent Dumestre at the opéra Comique in Paris (2008-2009). Uberto in la Servante Maîtresse by Pergolesi in Toulouse, Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas by Purcell in Paris, Brander in La damnation de Faust de Berlioz at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

Recent projects included Alquif and Ardan-Canile in Amadis by Lully with Olivier Schneebeli at the opéra d’Avignon, Uberto in la Serva Padrone by Pergolesi, Fiorello in the Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini at the opéra de Rouen. In concert he performed in the stringquartet „Todesfuge"  by Olivier Greif.

In February 2010 he has sung Aeneas (Purcell) with the Ensemble Musicaeterna (Festival at operahouse of Novosibirsk) under the baton of renowned conductor Teodor Currentzis, with whom Arnaud Richard recorded at the same occasion Mozart's Requiem (for the French cd-label alpha).

Recent parts included : “Pietro” in Simon Boccanegra by Verdi at the Opéra du Rhin Strasbourg and “Draco & Mars” (in Cadmus and Hermione  by Lully) at Opéra Comique de Paris. He also took part in Atys (Arts Florissants/William Christie) in Caen, Bordeaux, Versailles and New-York. The upcoming season (2011/2012) he will amongst others appear in the Opera of Versailles (with Opera Fuoco), the Opera House of Rouen (in La Traviata) and participate to another project with Les Arts Florissants. In concert he will sing the bass part in Beethovens Missa Solemnis (with the philharmonic orchestra of the Opera House of Rouen).

On CD he has recorded Le vœu de Louis XIII with les Pages et les Chantres du Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles and Olivier Schneebeli (prix de l’académie Charles Cros)and also Les grands Motets de Pierre Robert, a DVD of Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme by Molière and Lully (directed by Vincent Dumestre), by Luigi Rossi : Soleils Baroques Soleils Baroques with Les paladins and Jérôme Correas, a DVD of Cadmus et Hermione by Lully with le Poème Harmonique.

A CD recording of airs for bass and/or soprano from Zoroastre and Zaïs by Rameau with the ensemble Ausonia with Frédérik Haas and Mira Glodeanu.

He has performed as a soloist with, Les Musiciens du Paradis (Alain Buet), Ensemble Pierre Robert (Frédéric Désenclos), Pygmalion (Raphaël Pichon), le Poème Harmonique (Vincent Dumestre), Ausonia (directed by Mira Glodeanu and Frédérick Haas), les Paladins (Jérôme Correas), la Simphonie du Marais (Hugo Reyne), il Seminario Musicale (Gérard Lesne), la Fenice (Jean Tubery)…

In concert he has performed such works as the cantata BWV 82 by Bach, the Requiem by Fauré (a tour with the orchestra of the opéra de Rouen in 2006), the Requiem by Duruflé (opéra de Rouen 2007), the Requiem by Mozart, A German Requiem by Brahms, Carmina Burana by Orff, Handel’s Messiah, the St. John Passion by Bach. In addition he gives recitals of lieder and French songs with the pianist Xavier Leroux.
