Dutch mezzo-soprano is known for having frequently worked together with Frans Brüggen and his Orchestra of the 18th Century, as a soloist in the Bach Passions, in Mozart’s Requiem, in arias by Haydn and in Beethoven Symphony No. 9, with Sir John Eliot Gardiner, whether in Bach Cantatas or Beethoven Symphony No 9 and for her appearances under the baton of Christian Thielemann, Iván Fischer, Daniel Harding, Sir Neville Marriner, Sir Roger Norrington, Ivor Bolton, Ton Koopman, Vasily Petrenko, Michael Schønwand, Neeme Järvi, Richard Egarr, Arie van Beek, Fabio Bondi, Thomas Zehetmaier, Hartmut Haenchen, Nicholas McGegan and Kent Nagano.
2006, she made her successfuldebut at the Bayreuther Festspiele as Siegrune (Walküre) conducted Christian Thielemann and took till 2010 continously part in the Ring. Subsequently she was invited to sing Siegrune in the legendary Ring directed by Pierre Audi at the Amsterdam Opera House and in concert with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra under Marek Janowski (now available on cd). During the International Wagner year 2013, she made her debut as Fricka (Rheingold) in the striking production by "Rheingold auf dem Rhein", performed in the hold of a huge Rhine barge.
Being equally at home in baroque, classical, romantic and 20th century repertoire, Wilke te Brummelstroete has frequently taken part in international (baroque) productions, amongst others as : Venere / Bellezza in Cavalli's Ercole Amante (Netherlands Opera, with Ivor Bolton); Ruggiero in Alcina and Teseo in Arianna in Creta (Händel-Festspiele Göttingen), Tirinto in Imeneo (Opera Ireland), Storgé in Jephtha (Händel-Festspiele Göttingen and San Francisco), Juno / Ino in Semele (San Francisco); Ottavia L'incoronazione di Poppea (Massachusetts Festival), Proserpina L’Orfeo (Amsterdam), Minerva/Melanto in Il Ritorno d'Ulisse (Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Vienna, Zürich and Sydney Festival), Penelope Il Ritorno d'Ulisse (Wiesbaden); Aristeo in Graun’s Orfeo (Berlin); Purcell’s Dido (Brussels, Antwerp, London, Libya, China); Tamerlano in Vivaldi's Bajazet (Vienna with Fabio Biondi), Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte with Mahler Chamber Orchestra at the Lucerne Festival 2011 (Daniel Harding), extracts of Amneris in Verdi's Aida (Amsterdam Muziektheater Jubileum 2011), as The Sorceresse (Didon et Enée) Stour Festival Kent (s.l.d. de Mark Deller).
During the current season 2015/16, she took part in the famous Robert Carsen production of Dialogues des Carmélites at the National Opera Amsterdam.
Meanwhile, Wilke has become a must in Beethoven's 9th Symphony, her particiaption in numerous concerts and recordings speaks volumes : with New Japan Philharmonic (under Frans Brüggen), Orkest van het Oosten (Jan Willem de Vriend) en London Symphony Orchestra (Sir JE Gardiner) to name just a few.
