The Italian tenor Enrico Casari started his musical education at the Conservatory of his hometown Verona, where he studied singing with Maria Sokolinska Noto. He pursued his studies with Augusto Vicentini, Ivo Vinco and Sherman Lowe. 2006 he won first prize at the "International Singing Competition “Rinaldo Pelizzoni " in Parma. He completed his professional training at Flanders Opera Studio Ghent and joined eventually the Opera Studio of Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg where he participated in Louise (G. Charpentier) staged by Vincent Boussard, Aladino e la Lampada Magica (Rota), Ariadne auf Naxos (R. Strauss) and in Macbeth (Verdi). Inbetween he made his debut at La Monnaie Brussels as Don Curzio in Le Nozze di Figaro and took his first steps at the Royal Opera House of Wallonie Liege as Tamino in the Magic Flute.
The main Opera house in Strasbourg reinvited him afterwards as Malcolm in Macbeth, Valzacchi in Der Rosenkavalier, Beppe in I Pagliacci, Lancelot (cover) in Le Roi Arthus (Chausson) and to take part in the legendary Janacek-cycle directed by Robert Carsen as Janek in The Makropulos Affair and Kudrjas in Kat'a Kabanova.Recent and upcoming engagements
During the current season 2021-2022 Enrico will sing Titta-Nane in Le Baruffe (by Giorgio Battistelli) at La Fenice. Other engagements included the revival, recording and broadcasting at the International Janacek Festival Brno of Osud (Fate) a rarely performed opera by Leos Janacek directed by Robert Carsen in which Enrico sang the main character Zivny. A role, in which he actuallly debuted last season at the Brno Festival. Apart from this he will also sing Ismaele in Nabucco at the National Theatre of Brno.
Noteworthy are both Enrico’s participation in the award winning production of A Quiet Place by Bernstein) in the role of François set up by the Opera Company Operazuid Maastricht, with multiple performances throughout the Netherlands and in Luxembourg as in the title-role in Bernstein’s famous opera Candide directed by Vincent Boussard at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Vilnius.
In recent years, a new role, Narraboth in Salome (R. Strauss, opened him the door to important theaters such as Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Filarmonico di Verona and Teatro comunale of Bologna. In the first two theaters in the Salome production directed by Robert Carsen. And also his very first Don José in Carmen interpreted at Teatro Giovanni Battista Pergolesi Jesi, will also provide opportunities.
Over the past ten years Enrico participated in various productions at the Opera house of Monte Carlo : as Malcolm and Beppe the latter alongside of Leo Nucci and Marcelo Alvarez, Poisson in Adriana Lecouvreur (Cilea) and Sir Bruno Roberton in I Puritani (Bellini).
As a result of his earlier successful debuts in the house, the Royal Opera House of Liège offered him to sing alongside Sumi Jo the role of Des Grieux in Daniel-François-Esprit Auber's ! Manon Lescaut, another rarely performed opera. Liège also invited him to interpret Alberto in La Gazzetta (Rossini), Brighella, Don Basilio in Nozze di Figaro, Comte Barigoule in Cendrillon by Pauline Viardot and also Beppe in I Pagliacci alongside José Cura.
As a guest he performed Dormont in La Scala di seta (Rossini) at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées under the baton of Enrique Mazzola ; Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor the Opera houses of Lille, Reims, Rouen and Limoges ; Alberto (La Gazzetta) at St. Moritz Opera Festival, Opera Basel and at the Israeli Opera of Tel Aviv ; Tamino in The magic Flute at Teatro Comunale di Bolzano and again Beppe, this time upon invitation of the Opera house of Metz.
Apart from this, the artist made his debut in two world famous venues : at Teatro La Fenice as Janek in the revival of the Makropulos Affair produced by ONR Strasbourg and at the legendary Arena of Verona, there as Remendado in Carmen.
The above-mentioned productions have offered Enrico Casari to sing repeatedly under the baton of renowned conductors such as Paolo Arrivabeni, Gianandrea Noseda, Friedemann Layer, Daniele Callegari, Marko Letonja, Patrick Fournillier, Jérémie Rhorer, Enrique Mazzola, Pinchas Steinberg, Patrick Davin, Christophe Rousset, Francesco Ivan Ciampa, to name just a few.
Concert time !
Whenever his mutiple operatic projects allowed it, Enrico Casari has deepened with enthusiams the concert repertoire and performed main tenor solo parts in among others : Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Haydn’s Creation (performed at the Millennium of the Cathedral of Liège), Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle and Stabat Mater, Verdi’s Requiem and Puccini’s Messa di Gloria. Noteworthy as well is his participation in the world premiere of Karol Kurpinski's Mass at the Wielki Theatre in Warsaw.Discography
His recordings include the role of Barone Rouvel in Umberto Giordano’s Fedora for Deutsche Grammophon, alongside star singers Angela Gheorghiu and Placido Domingo.
