Julie Bailly performed at La Monnaie as Mother Goose (Rake’s Progress) in Robert Lepage’s fabulous production. She also appeared in the “Walküre” at Flanders Opera, a house she returned to last season to take part in the famous Robert Carsen production of Dialogues des Carmélites (season 07/08).

As a law graduate from the University of Louvain, Julie Bailly gained her First Prize in opera singing and lyric art at Liège Conservatory, followed in 2002 by Higher Diploma in Lyric Art. She has fulfilled her vocal and musical education as a member of the renowned "Chapelle Reine Elisabeth" were she was coached among others by bass-baritone José Van Dam. Julie Bailly is also finalist of the Maria Lanza competition (edition 2003) in Filignano,Italy. She has given concerts of works by Mozart, Beethoven, J.S. Bach and Saint-Saens, and has sung numerous lieder by Schubert, Schumann and Brahms.

She started her opera career with roles as Maurya in “Riders to the Sea” by Vaughan Williams, and Annina in “La Traviata” at the Monnaie Opera Studio. Julie Bailly took also part in the first performance of the “Seventh Seal” by E. Sulon at the so called "Petit Théâtre de l’Opéra Royal de Wallonie" and sang the role of Mrs.Buchman in Kurt Weil’s “Street Scene”.

She has sang at several occasions with the Ensemble Les Agrémens, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège and gave a number of recitals. With the Brussels Choral Society she performed the Mass in A flat Major by Schubert, “Paulus” by Mendelssohn and Mozart's Requiem. Concerts with works by Vivaldi brought at the Ambronay Festival. Together with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Luxemburg she undertook a concert tour with Mendelssohn’s “Elijah” in France and Luxembourg. She was frequently invited by the "Festival de Wallonie". Meanwhile she has sung under the baton of Jean-Pierre Haeck, Louis Langrée, Pierre Cao, Friedemann Layer, Kazushi Ono, Rani Calderon, Claudio Scimone, Ivan Törzs and Paolo Arrivabeni.

Since 2004 she is a regular guest of Belgium’s most important operahouses. At Flanders Opera she appeared a.o. in Katia Kabanova” and in October 2005 she made her debut in “Il Viaggio a Reims” at the Brussels Opera La Monnaie. It has given her the opportunity to cooperate with stage directors as Robert Carsen, Robert Lepage, Vincent Boussard, Ivo Van Hove ...

In May 2010 she made her debut at Opéra Royal de Wallonie Liège (ORW) as "Feodor" in Boris Godounov (Moussorgski). In the following season she reappeared in Liège as “Le Page” in Salomé by R. Strauss (French version).

During 2011-2012 and the next seasons she will  return at ORW to sing "Rosalia (L’Equivoco stravagante) by G. Rossini (a coproduction with St Moritz), Annina (La Traviata) and Zulma (L’Italiana in Algeri (G. Rossini).
